Closed and Abandoned

While on my recent trip to Michigan for my dad’s surprise 90th birthday party, I gave myself an extra day as usual to drive around and see the places I used to frequent years ago. Castaways is now closed and I’m not surprised.

The food was not as good as it could have been, and the grounds were never kept up as they should have been. It’s unfortunate. Being on the lake, there were once well maintained docks that lake residents and others could use to tie up and have a bite to eat and a drink. Today those docks are almost completely gone due to time and lake ice tearing them apart.

There is also an old boat ramp which I and so many others used to drive our cars and trucks onto the ice in winter where snowmobile drag races and motorcycle races were held. I suppose those races are still going on today.

It’s such a bummer to see this place rotting away, someones dream has been lost. If I were the owner of this property, I would market it as Residential and for sale as it is totally surrounded by private homes. Land almost never loses it’s value.
