Today the monsoon rains have gone, leaving the valley with this over Calico Basin. Beautiful!

  1. Look at the colors of the mountains. It looks like they’ve been painted with a paintbrush. Beautiful!

    • Indeed! Iron in the strata created the red lines and rock. To walk the desert floor alone is to take a walk backward millions of years. 200 million years ago, when this state and much of the American Southwest were underwater in a shallow sea. There have been so many geologic epochs, wish I could visit them all!
