It has taken 200 million years to create the beauty of the Mojave Desert as it rose from a shallow sea long ago.

  1. I can imagine all the deserts being seas/oceans millions of years ago! Lovely photo despite the desolation. There is always some mystery in these arid lands.

    • I have found sea shells and imprints of sea creatures embedded in the rocks on my hikes, this was indeed a sea in the ancient past. It doesn’t look it, but those mountains in the photo are at least one mile away, I’ve hiked it and it’s amazing how quiet it is out there. All you see and hear is wind and a few desert critters scattering about. Magical! ❤️🌵
