A Bird in my Mediterranean Fan Palm

While making something to eat in the kitchen I noticed movement outside the front window, the Nikon was in easy reach so I grabbed it and captured the bird. There were two of them chasing about among the six trunks of the palm. One landed just long enough for me to get these photos. I see these same birds dashing about above the house chasing each other. My guess is that it’s a territory battle. I looked at several websites on bird identification but never found this specific bird. Any ideas about it’s specie?

  1. No idea what kind of bird but great captures of them. Have I mentioned how much I would like a palm tree outside my window? 🙂

    • You would love one or five or more! I’ve two Mexican Fan Palms and a baby Med. Fan Palm in the back yard, this one is in the front along the road. Palm tree love baby! ❤️🌴😎

  2. Great action shots – a very pretty bird, I like the band across its eyes. I don’t have a clue what it is though!

    • It’s a Pretty Bird I guess Shelley! In flight you can see the white and darker colours under the wings too.

  3. so lovely… I am glad you captured him. Thank you, have a nice day and weekend, Love, nia

    • I wish I knew! They are so fast when chasing each other, following precisely as they go up and down and banking so hard left and right. Impressive!
