They use the resin to treat the old wooden telephone poles. My dad was a lineman for the county so he climbed poles all day. Creosote resin has a somewhat offensive odor which does not wash off easily.
Wow thank you David! Seems there’s always someone who has the answer to one’s questions. I like the bushes as far as the way they look, never smelt anything from one though.

Hi Nia!! As far as I know the blossoms are yellow only. The little puffy things look pink or white to me. These bushes grow wild all over the desert.
