Here in the Desert Southwest people refer to Pop as Soda, this sounds so dumb to me! I use the word Pop in restaurants, I sometimes get that look which says your not from here are you? No, I’m not and I’m not ashamed of that! Being honest with myself, there are times I still think about moving back home to Michigan. What stops me? Those Michigan winters. Snow is not my friend these days!
Being from Ohio, I always use the word “pop”. In Pennsylvania both are used, but I still get asked “where I’m from” a fair amount of time when I order “pop”.
Regional Dialects! In Michigan it’s all pop. Occasionally people out here will notice my speech is juuuust a bit different than the west coast folks.
