They seem to be looking directly into the camera’s lens don’t they? I’m surprised the photo didn’t pixelate to death under such heavy cropping…

  2. Why does it look like he or she is standing next to a black pen or something in the bottom picture?

    • If you are referring to the horizontal dark spot half way along the insect body, it’s probably just an Iron spot on the boulder beyond the insect, it’s out of focus.
