When cleaning up this image I found it to be a great example of Island Mountain Ranges. Nevada is the most mountainous US state directly behind Alaska thanks to Plate Tectonics. Our beautiful Spring Mountains are an excellent example of an Island Mountain Range. I have traveled completely around these mountains a few times via the 95 freeway and Blue Diamond Road which takes you through the small city of Pahrump, Nevada. In the photo you are looking at the eastern flank of a portion of the Spring Mountains. The snow isn’t up there all year.
I would have guessed Colorado was the most mountainous state. That’s cool, John. And beautiful!
Nevada has tons of Island mountain ranges.
This is an impressive view with the mountains rising up at the end of the plane.
