The Lone Cormorant

These photos were taken early today, I love the feathers of the Cormorant. Great color and so shiny! The water even looks inviting doesn’t it? It reminds me of the warm summer days of my youth in Michigan living on the lake. Memories always cherished. ❤️

  1. In the children’s book “Island of the Blue Dolphins” by Scott O’Dell, the woman in the story (who is left alone at age 12, for 18 years on the island of San Nicolas of the coast of California) makes herself a skirt of cormorant feathers. I believe this skirt is or was in a museum (maybe in Rome) after the rescued woman was taken to the Santa Barbara Mission (California). Based on a true story.

    • Wow Anneli, I’ve never heard of this! Amazing she made a skirt of feathers, sad that her life is so lonely. Your an author so you know plenty about this stuff, thanks! 😍
