In The Desert

“In the desert you can remember your name ’cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain”

I love this old song by America, good memories – good years. This set of photos are all rather old and taken both around the city and also in the Valley of Fire State Park as well as the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. I am digging very deep into my archives to pull out photos like this! I can see the difference between the Nikon D3300 and the Nikon Z6 bodies, the image clarity is very much cleaner, sharper these days. I hope you are well and safe!

  1. And the black and white one too! I love that song by America. Bread is another group of that time that I love.

      • I like that one too! I was looking at the one with the great blue mountain range straight ahead. I can’t believe the details you were able to capture. Beautiful!

    • Wow thank you, Lavinia! I’m happy you like them. The dates these were taken span a few years, I’m digging into my archives these days. The new Nikon sets on the coffee table, maybe the tripod… Bogus.

  2. Excellent landscapes. I just got back from having a biopsy. One of your favorite procedures if I’m not mistaken?

    • I’m not sure which you mean but none are my fav! Yuck… The Nuclear Stress Test I had a while back was the worst damn thing I’ve done.

      • The one involved me getting cut. I felt like the pig in the restaurant at the end of the universe in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy talking, joking, laughing and cutting up with the doctor while he was cutting me up. Turns out he lives about a mile from me.

  3. It’s a great old song David! Hearing always takes my mind way back then I drift away to those wonderful years. Wish I could go back…

  4. There were plants and birds and rocks and things
There was sand and hills and rings
The ocean is a desert with its life underground
And a perfect disguise all above
Under the cities lies a heart made of ground
But the humans will give no love
