Some of you will recognise this spillway that I photographed sometime during 2019. Taking a joyride, hunting for photo opportunities this afternoon, I passed this place and decided to hop out for some photos. All of the graffiti has been painted over by the city which for me took away some of the grunge effects of the photos if you take my meaning. Thanks, Las Vegas!
John, the concrete jungle is the world of wonderful geometry, perspective and amazing colors.
Wow, thank you so much, Kaya! I didn’t think of them that way. Everything inside its perimeter seems to be precisely aligned, actually.
Amazing they used so much concrete for spillways in the desert. Some of those photos put me in mind of the heavy German fortifications in France in Normandy during WWII.
Interesting thought, the concrete would stop bullets. Maybe the spillway is overdone, but you never know how hard it might rain. There are several detention basins around the valley, and concrete drainage ditches too. Sadly, homeless folk live in them, and under the bridges, even very near the Strip. So very wrong that this is happening.
