This isn’t of much interest to most folks I suppose, but this is a 1/4 wave antenna tuned to approximately 146.000mhz which is the center of the VHF 2-meter ham radio band. The band is 144.0 to 148.0mhz. It’s very short yet does a good job for me, mounted to the truck bed. I told you it wouldn’t be interesting!
Total length is 19.3 inches
You have a fine radiating element there John!
I would never have guessed what it is.
No worries! Antenna systems for the VHF and UHF radio frequencies have been a specialty of mine for decades. I used to have a 90 foot tower in Michigan years ago which had multiple antenna systems attached to it. Fun!
Then this little one is a big improvement over the 90 ft. one.
You would have enjoyed talking to my old friend Margaret. She loved ham radio when she was younger. She passed away a couple of years ago.
Interesting for a radio amateur or CB adict I suppose π I wich you a lot of fun with this antenna John.
Thanks! Itβs used every time I go somewhere.
Oh yes.
LOL…..Yep, Not interested, but glad you are! It is great to have an interest in something. π
I’ve been licensed since the early 1980s….
