Around Town This Afternoon

It’s another sunny and hot day in the valley today at 105 degrees. I do enjoy leaving the windows down and switching the air conditioning off too since the air can cool you just a bit while moving. One thing that really grinds my gears once again though are the dolts riding bicycles.

I sat there at the light like the rest of the drivers, patiently waiting for the light to flip to green. Two guys on bikes were next to me also waiting. Suddenly, they both took off across the road and kept on going.  About five or ten seconds later, several cars blasted by heading north.

Really? Seriously? Here are two more morons looking to be six feet under before their time. A few weeks ago, I came upon a portable memorial that was remembering three men who had died while riding their bicycles. One man was a father of young children.

Whether or not a driver in a car was responsible I can’t recall but regardless this shows how dangerous it is to ride bicycles in this city where the drivers are very aggressive and think nothing of running red lights and so on.

And today, two more morons on bicycles ran a red light, putting at risk innocent drivers and passengers as well as themselves. It’s still true folks, stupid is as stupid does. I blasted them both as I passed after the light had changed to green and making a legal crossing of that road.

  1. While there are many safe bicyclists, the ones who are dare devils shouldn’t be taking such risks! I can’t imagine riding a bike in those temps, but you have less humidity than we do in WI! Great photos – in that last one are the palms tied up like that for trimming purposes? Or are they growing like that?

    • Sorry for the rant, but I’m so sick of the stupid people in this city. I used to live in the country in Michigan, living here with so many people, those true colors just flow like rivers. Where is the Common Sense???

  2. They sound like inexperienced cyclists. I certainly noticed them a lot in the Bay Area too

    • I don’t know how experienced they are, but they weren’t wearing those super-slick aerodynamic suits that a supposed pro would wear. Apparently these folks want to get the crunch…

        • I’ve never been but no thanks… I’ve been in Socal several times but just don’t like the place, and not just because of the traffic.

  3. Once more I am so impressed by the blue skies where you live. I can understand your frustration with the bike riders. They are supposed to follow the rules of the road! So aggravating and dangerous for everyone. Grrr…

    • Hi, thanks for agreeing with me, it’s so frustrating! We have 300+ days per year of sunshine so your visit here would probably be a sunny visit! It’s 105 just now at my place, a normal summer temperature actually.

Your pleasant comment is welcome!
