Yellow Sago Fronds and Rattlesnakes

The smaller Sago Palm (actually a Cycad) in the backyard has slowly turned yellow so this afternoon I added some proper fertiliser to it in the correct amount. The yellow fronds will never recover, the new fronds which are sprouting are nice and green though. I hope they both don’t kick the bucket!

I need to get more fertiliser though. Getting the photo of the rattlesnake isn’t easy with the 50mm lens so I cropped the photo down as much as possible without trashing it. I hope. In the nine years I’ve been here, I’ve never once seen a rattlesnake or any other snakes outside of the city. Or any Desert Tortoises either.

It’s too damn hot to roam the desert in summer for many folks… Read why the fronds turn yellow.
