These photos are a great example of what the “open desert” looks like outside of Las Vegas. Stand still, don’t make a sound. Listen to the breeze, take in the wonderful scent of this desert beauty. You could see wild donkeys browsing and large birds of prey riding the thermal currents high above you. Feel the summer heat, and watch for snakes!

Amazing country!
Looks beautiful. I love all the various cactus.
Hi, thank you, and thanks for following!
Glorious
Thanks very much Derrick! ☺️
Without a doubt a desert full of life!
Thanks so much, Rudi! I love my adopted city and desert.
it’s really beautiful country in its own deserty way.
Thanks Anneli, I’m sure you would like to visit this place.
It seems a lot like the area of Arizona south of Phoenix.
Well, I guess it is, but Phoenix is in the Sonoran Desert. This is the Mojave Desert up here. There are differences in the plants and cactus.
To a coastie, the difference is subtle. But I did learn that deserts are not just vast expanses of sand. There is a lot of life in a desert and each one is beautiful in its own way. South of Phoenix there is Picacho Peak Park and it being in a “desert” reminded me of the LV area in that “dry desert-with-mountains” way.
I see, it’s really beautiful isn’t it! I’ve probably mentioned that this area was once underwater in a shallow sea 200 million years ago. Sea shells have been found in the mountains!
Isn’t that just amazing?!
This is a beautiful show, John. Photos are fantastic!
Thanks very much, Kaya! You are so kind. ❤️
Beautiful images John. Makes me want to return again.
Thank you, Anita! ❤️ If you guys ever fly down here, I’d love to offer any tips I can. 😎🌴
😁😁
On our way .🤣
See ya when you get here! 😂
Truly gorgeous! I’ve never been to Las Vegas (maybe I’m the only one?) but would love to see the beautiful desert surrounding it!
Hi Susanne, thanks for stopping by. If you do, I can offer as many tips as I can. There is so much more here than the Strip! Beautiful desert scenery, lovely mountains to 12,000 feet. My adopted home from Michigan!
