I sooo wanted to walk over to these people and tell them that bread is not good for birds, but I didn’t. And the flock battling for the bread must have had fifteen birds at a minimum too, just stop, people!
That said, it is very windy today which made the bike ride a bit chilly but I had a weather and light jacket on so it was tolerable. I put twelve miles behind me today, a pretty good ride.
I think its the sugar in the bread John, it rots their teeth. If you have a close look, I bet these ducks have none left 😉
Dear John,
thanks a lot to inform all your readers that they shouldn’t feed bread to birds.
Have a happy week to come

You are welcome, Klaus! Be well!
Those people probably think they’re helping the birds by feeding them when in reality they’re not and are part of the problem.
I’m glad you agree, I need to visit my local plants place that sells bird seed and keep it with me in the truck. Better than bread!
Some people just won’t learn
It’s something we all did when we were young and didn’t know better.
Some time ago we lived near a lake. “Do not feed the ducks bread” signs were scattered along the bike/foot paths – even in other languages. Still people fed the ducks bread resulting in deformed ducklings, often with stumps for legs or short wings. So sad.
Really? I’ve never heard of bread causing deformations, only that it has zero nutritional value for the birds. That’s so terrible!
Something to do with the preservatives in the ingredients from what I recall.
I don’t feed bread to the birds, but I do have to wonder who and when this no no was decided. People used to feed bread to birds all the time and there weren’t birds toppling over at a noticeable rate.
My information is that bread has zero nutritional value for them. Empty calories!
Good to know!
Your welcome! ☺️😂
