Just to get out of the house for a bit, I took a ride in the truck for a bit. Such a lovely day in spite of the wind which will keep me off of the bike today, my bum approves of this decision. Even that soft seat can be hard after many miles! Since I picked up the new Nikkor 18-140mm lens I haven’t taken it off. The focal range is really great for all-around photography for my needs. The 16-50mm lens the Nikon Z50 body came with is nice but telephoto is much better.
At least one of the peaks in this range is 5000 feet high

I love the mountains!
Really nice effect with the clouds behind the mountains!
Thank you! 🌹
You’re welcome! 🙂
Wow! Just really stunning John.
Thank you so much, Sylvia! I’m glad that you like the photos, it’s hard not to love living here. ❤️ I like the photo of your white puppy I saw this morning, so cute! ❤️
Great views, John! 🤗
Thank you again, AnneMarie! There are some 6000 footers north of my home but I can’t see them due to trees and homes behind me.
At least the view is within driving distance. 🙂
You can’t drive to them other than at the base where the 215 freeway runs north and south. Otherwise, you;ll hit a wall of rock!
That would leave a red mark. 🥴
Bloody red! There is a road just west of the 15 that has several homes that are built right up against the steep rock faces. I would never buy a home there because of the possibility of earthquake. Wind may possibly send rocks tumbling down the rock face too. Nope! My home is about three miles east of them.
Sounds like a good plan. People build in the strangest areas to get that ‘wow’ factor. Back in my construction days, I used to think of it as the ‘wow that’s stupid’ factor.
That’s a good assessment of this! In Calico Basin, a place I’ve mentioned on the site tons of times, there is a huge boulder that looks as though one good tremor will send it down a very steep slope over much larger boulders, into the parking lot. I have to wonder if the park rangers or our BLM (government entity) have noticed this…
Yah, I hope it never happens!
Getting the CRUNCH ain’t much fun! 😂
