These birds are very attractive and have the sweetest call and sound as they scurry about. They seem to cluster together under the thick scrub brush too, all the while making those cute sounds. The tuft feathers on the head are attractive too. This link takes you to a page with lots of information about these very cute birds.
I would like to have better photos than these, they aren’t as close or sharp as I would like…
Now how cute is this little guy! Great pics, John! Is that a feather coming from its head? Cher xoxoxo
Hi Cher, thank you! The little feather is larger on the male California Quail, the females have one too but it’s a wee bit shorter. Such sweet birds!
Ah, bless! Thank you for that, John! Oh they sure do look sweet!
Thanks, they have a cool sounding call and sounds.
How awesome is that!!

That’s it! Thank you, Doug! The birds I saw made other vocalisations too.
Nice! I haven’t seen this type of bird before
Thanks, the link will help you learn about them.
Thanks John!
great images John!
Thank you, Sylvia! They are cute birds. ☺️
What an interesting looking bird. I don’t think I’ve seen one of these before.
Thanks, Linda, they are cuties that have fun sounds when they chat with each other.
John, you were so lucky to meet these birds. They are so cute! Fantastic photos!!!
Thanks so much Kaya! ❤️
They’re really fun to watch. Lots of different habits, voices, and actions.
Indeed! Do you have them on the island?
Some. Not as many as we’d like. Generally, it’s too wet here, but we have a few micro climate areas where they can live.
Great captures!
Hi Cindy, thanks so much! They are so fun to watch and listen to. ❤️
