Just one photo shows the tiny people atop Lone Mountain which is just 600 feet or so tall. Tall enough to die though if you were blown off the summit and rolled down on that very rough and tough rock! The other photos are just local peaks which are 5000 and 6000 feet with snow up there. The ski lodge near Mount Charleston has had to use its Howitzer to mitigate the chance of an avalanche. Yikes!

Great photo John!
On the first photo we are like ants in universe π Fantastic moments and photos, John!
Mankind is small compared to the universe, Kaya.
A Howitzer is like a Cannon. How does that work for an Avalanche? I’m confused.
The rounds it fires hit the mountain side and disrupts the heavy snow on slopes that are too steep to hold the snow which will eventually come down the mountain anyway. The gun makes the avalanche happen so that it won’t bury skiers.
Wow! beautiful pictures.
Thank you, and thanks for following the blog.
My pleasure π
Wonderful collection of mountain scenery and love the shot of the tiny people! Hope you have a return of blue skies today.π
Thanks so much! It’s supposed to rain on and off today but we need that rain so badly.
A excellent set
Hi Derrick, thank you again! ππ»
Those are some tiny looking people up there. I hope none of them ended up rolling down the mountain.
Gladly I’ve never heard of that happening, Anne Marie! i have seen photos of the summit, there isn’t much room up there. I can’t make the climb because of health issues. Nice to see you again! I hope you guys are all well. β€οΈπ¨π¦
We are good. I would like to try climbing some day but if anyone was going to roll down a mountain it would be graceful me. π
hehe, I don’t think that you would put yourself in that situation. The first part of the climb up this little mountain is to me, very steep. Too much, gravity wins…
Gravity wins when I am walking across a room. It is genetic. π
I see… πβΊοΈ
