Perfect weather describes today’s 14-mile bike ride, check out the deep blues and fluffy white clouds above Las Vegas Valley! The underside of the Canary palm trees is thick and beautiful too. The temperature won’t see 90 degrees today so I hit the road to take advantage of this cooler weather before the 100s settle in for the summer. I used the new Sony A7C camera with the 28-60mm lens today which was wrapped in a soft towel in the bike bag. Welcome to summer in Las Vegas Valley! (the blues are a bit too deep).

Fun City
Las Vegas is indeed a fun city but the sign is more for the tourists than us locals in my view. Not that some of us don’t take advantage of the Strip and its very inflated prices geared to maximize corporate profits. My favorite photo in this little set is the Stratosphere Tower.
It has a nice glow to it, probably due to the sun being just out of frame. I hope that my American friends had a blessed Memorial Day and honored our fallen American soldiers. Our weather today will see a high of 89 degrees in the valley, a bike ride may happen today if I have time for it.
How To build A Pot of Chili
I took these iPhone photos yesterday while building a new pot. It’s plenty spicy but it lacks flavor. What can I add to it that will enhance chili? I’ve been out and about enjoying the day but I didn’t find anything worth a photo. I hope that your Memorial Day was a great day. I had Arby’s for lunch, it was delicious! 😋😋
Random Downtown Photos
This is the next to last set of photos from downtown the other day, then it’s back to some leftover biking photos. Sunshine and 92 toasty degrees are forecast for the valley today, great! Yesterday the truck got a great spiff that it needed badly.
The engine compartment finally got washed down, the body waxed and the tires got the shine back on them. It looks damn good for an eight-year-old truck. I have never posted a full photo of it though, have I…
Hot City Streets
Even in the 90s, the streets of Las Vegas are a hot place to be because of the absorption of sunlight on those black streets. I made two extra versions of the photo that shows street names looking south. Well, I whipped up a fresh pot of chili this afternoon, big surprise, right? I used four cans of Bush’s spicy sauce red kidney beans, the usual packet of hot powder from Knorr, and added plenty of chili powder myself. My neighbor stopped by for a quick chat, he was practically licking his chops haha! I hope your extended weekend has been as peaceful as mine. Thank you veterans still with us or passed. God bless you all.

Happy and Sunny Memorial Day from Las Vegas!
I wish all of my American friends a happy and safe Memorial Day this coming Monday. Today, I drove east to the north end of the Las Vegas Strip to get some photos of the Stratosphere Tower and the area around it. Both the 28-60 and the 211mm lenses were used today, I have many more photos from today lined up. Today has been very beautiful with 90 degrees, a nice breeze, and 100% vitamin D falling from the sky!
Water Pics
I thought the title to be appropriate since there is water in each photo, but these photos really challenge the capabilities of the iPhone 12 or any other iPhone in my opinion. I think I had to over-sharpen them to get somewhat close to the sharpness I am looking for.
The result is the way these photos look, I really need to start taking the new Sony A7C on these rides with the 28-60mm lens. The camera has to be wrapped in a towel to protect it from the many bumps and occasional slams the bike takes on my rides.
Sunshine and 90 degrees are on deck for the valley today, I’m not riding today since I got a bit cooked yesterday. My farmer’s tan is looking fantastic though, haha!
Scenes From Recent Rides
There is plenty of color in this next set taken along the paths I ride. On today’s ride, I did 12 miles which included a stop at the shop where I purchased my Pedego Element bike in late 2021.
The bracket that holds the phone mount wasn’t hanging onto the handlebar, after about thirty minutes of trying different gaskets under the bracket, we managed to make the damn thing stay put. I grabbed several photos today which will be uploaded tomorrow morning.
I skipped putting sunscreen on today and man did my legs and arms brown up! The funny thing though is that my tans are always top-notch farmers tans!
