If you look closely, you can see where the high waterline was because of that huge monsoon rain several days ago. I’ve never seen this detention basin so full. I wish I had photos of all of the erosion and water damage this storm caused, really bad! 93 degrees is our high today, I’ll take it.

You are welcome, Anneli! I’ve rode my bike past this basin many times but have never seen the water so high. It seems to be draining very quickly. There are at least three basins in this area.
I learned something today. I thought they were called retention basins, but I found out that a retention basin holds water back permanently, whereas a detention basis holds it back and releases it gradually. So thanks for the nudge to find this out. Glad you got some water there at last.
